My 2nd Stitch Fix!

It is like Christmas morning when I know my box has been delivered and I cannot wait to get home and open it.

I requested my same stylist since my first box was a hit and I kept all 5 items. I got a different stylist and the fix wasn't terrible but the fit of the clothes was far from perfect. I requested flowy tops and the one print I loved was too big. So the whole be VERY specific in your notes when ordering a stitch is crucial!
I requested a dress for a beach trip and this was the stylist's idea of a beach trip dress. While I liked this dress, it was more of something I would wear to work with flats or maybe a funeral. It has no pleats or anything it is just a shift dress which I like except for it literally is knee length on my 5'1 frame.

Returned the dress

These are grey distressed skinny jeans. I absolutely loved my first pair of dark wash skinny jeans. This pair, not so much. Its a different brand and "distressed" in one knee. This was definitely not "skinny" on the lower legs so they just looked strange on me. The cost $98.

Returned the jeans and added in my feedback, no distressed, no cargo, and no palazzo pants.

Loved this top but unfortunately I needed a smaller size and did not realize you could exchange sizes via customer service until if was too late and I had checked out. This was what I requested when I said I wanted colorful, summer, sleeveless tops that are flowy. The medium definitely runs big in my opinion. $38 for this top.

Returned the cute top!

This was the only thing I was not wanting to try on when I saw it. This is a top I would NEVER even try on in a store. But Stitch Fix always recommends trying on all items so I did. And surprisingly I liked the fit and design. The material was super soft and very high quality. I would have kept this but even though it did surprise me, it's not my style.

Returned the top.

Lastly, this was my one keeper from my fix. I love this top!! The fit is flowy but will be cute wifh white shorts or skinny jeans. Plus, I didn't want to lose my $20 styling fee. I have seen this top a lot in a white/cream color but I love this coral color.

I cannot wait for my next fix. I gave a lot of feedback and I am still really pleased with this service.

My first Stitch Fix experience...

I am not good at clothes shopping. I love to shop! But I pick out plain Jane stuff. I find a v-neck I like and buy all of the solid colors of the same shirt. I can buy casual dresses but I need help in the casual dress and dressy dress arena. Plus, time is an issue (with 2 girls under 3 shopping for myself gets placed on the backburner)!! Also, finding jeans that fit my height is an issue. I read a lot of blogs of women who received Stitch Fix boxes and I work with a nurse practitioner and a nurse that use it once every 2-3 months. So I decided to try it. You pay $20 for a styling fee. You make a pinterest board and answer questions and write memos and look at pictures and basically tell the stylist your style.

I made a memo that said something along the lines of: please don't send scarves or handbags. I wont use them. No chevron. I need a good pair of skinny jeans that do not require alteration because its extremely difficult to find them because even some petities are too long. I wrote that I would like help with date night outfits but want something I could wear on a casual restaurant or with dress pants.

My stylist was Carrie and she sent me the PERFECT items. I told her I didn't want to spend a whole lot.

If you keep all 5 items you get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee is the only thing you are charged upfront. It goes towards the cost of whatever you choose to keep. If you don't like something you have a prepaid envelope to return it within 3 days of receiving the box. The only money you could lose would be the $20 if you dislike all 5 items.

They sent me a dress, a cardigan, a pair of skinny jeans, a necklace, and a dressy/casual top. I loved everything except the color of the shirt but I will keep it because it is dressy and a nice top. I can deal with the color!

You leave feedback on your fix after receiving the box. I will let Carrie know that I prefer brighter colors or pastels. It was all a great price even after taxes. So for 5 items all picked out for me and shipped to my door I didn't think that the price was terrible at all. The items are much better quality items that what I normally purchase for myself but my clothes usually do not hold up because I buy cheaper items.

Stitch Fix also sends you a card with ways to style each piece in 2-3 ways. Also, a breakdown of the cost of each item and a note from the stylist. :)

I wasn't expecting for her to get my first box right but she nailed it! Definitely reordering sometime soon.

Time flies

Since my last post a lot has happened...

We experienced something no woman should ever have to experience when we miscarried our second baby on February 18th, 2014.

Mama was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2014 and had a lumpectomy followed by two chemo treatments and over 75 radiation treatments.

Mama was hospitalized from Hands and Foot Syndrome that was chemo induced and had surgery on her hand for carpal tunnel that was chemo induced.

We traveled to NYC with a 13 month old back in March of 2014.

We found out we were expecting our third child, Joyanna Paige Sanders.

We experienced a few scares with that pregnancy when the doctor told us she had IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction) due to an artery restricting more than it should. I was hospitalized the day before Halloween due to the IUGR and ogliohydraminias (low fluid levels). After 5 days, I was released but instead of biweekly appointments for dopplars and growth scans and BPP's, I had to go to daily appointments. I even had to see a perinatologist. At 37 weeks, Joyanna was born and was a healthy 5lb, 18inch baby girl without any issues. I was unable to VBAC due to the complications (the risk was incredibly too high) however, not having a NICU stay was an act of God because the doctors were definitely worried.

We found out that the plant my husband works at was closing for good by 2016.

Our sweet Raegan began pulling her hair out in August and by November it was completely gone. My little angel was bald. What caused this, we can speculate on all day long and it broke our hearts and even caused anger. We tried everything you can imagine from dolls with hair, horse toys with hair, fuzzy pillows, scratch sleeves, redirecting the behavior, and everything in between but in her sleep and in the car seat, we could not stop it. Currently, her hair is growing back slowly and she does not mess with it. We are praying that it was just a temporary behavior and not trichotillamania.

Raegan became a full blown toddler who changed sooo much and has been so busy and active.

Whew, what an eventful 2014. I just thought 2013 was an adjustment with a new baby and losing my Daddy.

Through it all though, God has been so faithful. We have seen miracles occur as with Joyanna our miracle baby and with Mama completing her last round of radiation on New Years Eve. Praise God for her having a mammogram this summer and her doctor catching the lump early.

"...to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved." Ephesians 1:6

We are so undeserving of everything we have. We are not guaranteed tomorrow and what we consider to be sadness and suffering is nothing compared to what we deserve. Christ died. He bled. His blood was shed for me. An eventful year just made our little family trust in Him more and rely on Him more. He drew me closer to Him through all of the joy and sorrow.

God is good.
