Hi! My name is Morgan Erika and this is my blog "Beyond the Basics."
I am currently a Registered & Licensed Dietitian! I completed my dietetic internship at Cedar Crest College and I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science with an emphasis in Dietetics. I love nutrition but especially healthy cooking and baking from scratch.
I am a consultant dietitian for long-term care facilities and I LOVE it! I also work as a renal dietitian with patients who require a form of dialysis treatments, which I also LOVE!

I am fascinated by nutrition and dietitians in the media and I love to write! I have a million stories from my childhood that I would love to publish into one large book if ever possible.
I am passionate about Family and Consumer Sciences and how it should be taught in every middle and high school! It is not your old cooking and sewing home economics anymore, even though I think everyone should learn how to cook and sew :)
I love country music, traveling, cooking, aerobics, spending a day with my grandparents, concerts, writing, gardening, reading a good book, and shopping. I also love education!
Along with pursuing a Master's degree in nutrition science, I also am married to the love of my life, Benton. We began dating while I was a junior in high school and he was a sophomore in college. God had a plan for us all along and brought us together. We were wed May 28, 2011 and are so excited to see what the future holds! We have a sweet baby girl who arrived in January of 2013, a baby who is resting in the arms of our Lord that we miscarried in February of 2013, and we have another sweet baby girl that arrived in November of 2014!
I have been blessed with an amazing family and great friends that I would not trade for anything.
My number one love is my love for my creator, Jesus Christ and without him, I would be lost. I would love to share the good news of how he died on the cross for both mine and your sins and how by his blood we are forgiven and can live eternally when we die with him in Heaven.
